Mandy and Steve sent in some lovely photos of Ella and Shadow's adventures in Clapham ( Yorkshire dales ) over the weekend. They have quite the task in caring for Shadow, and also young Ella, but they embrace it and they are determined to make the most of every minute they all have together.
'Both dogs tried the wheels!!' Mandy told us 'Shadow did ok so we didn’t need them but took them just incase'

Mandy and Steve met Shadow towards the end of November 2024 after she came into the care of PAWS. It was mutual love at first sight for all. Off Shadow went to a better life, and following lots of TLC, she immediately began to show signs of improvement, both in her demeanour and in her physical appearance. Shadow enjoyed pottering around the stables and the fields at the farm, which was now her new home. Cuddling up by the log burner in the evenings with her new family, Shadow soon made herself at home.
Tragically, following a vet visit, Mandy and Steve discovered that Shadow has a splenic tumour which was just devastating news for Mandy and Steve and for everyone who knows this wonderful girl. Shadow is the most wonderful loving and gentle dog, despite her previous troubles. She has brought so much joy to her new humans and we are all incredibly sad that her time with them is now cut short.
Mandy and Steve have been making the most of the very limited time they have left with Shadow and are taking her (and new girl Ella – a PAWS’ foster) out for as many enjoyable experiences as possible. Mandy and Steve had offered to help out by fostering a German Shepherd puppy before they learned of Shadow's condition and Ella was already being fostered at the far by Steve and Mandy. Both dogs get along really well and they love being at the farm and setting off to different places.

Mandy and Steve have taken these two beautiful girls into their lives and given them a loving home. Tragically, Shadow's condition will shorten her life, but in the meantime, she is given every opportunity to enjoy the time she has left.
This is the life that every dog would dream of. Life on a farm and days out exploring. Shadow had a terrible life before she came into rescue at PAWS, neglected, under fed, and forced to live outside, she was in a very poor state. She found the perfect family with Steve, Mandy and Ella and we at PAWS are all in awe of this amazing couple, who are giving Shadow the very best love and care possible.
