PAWS BLOGS

Take a look behind the scenes at PAWS and see how Dogs and Cats get a second chance at a new life. Its tough at times and always challenging but always worthwhile.

Helping Stray and Homeless Cats.

Here at PAWS, we can't help every cat because of our limited resources, Pressure on our services has never been higher, as is the case with all rescues currently. There are however, other options that can really help a cat stuck outside in the weather. Take a look at these outdoor shelters on sale on Amazon.
We can on occasion help with food, and in future we would like to use some of our ring fenced funds to help with a neutering, microchipping and vaccinating programme for those cats in most need. We never like having to refuse help to desperate owners or those raising concern, or keep refusing to help the huge number of cats in need, but we don't have huge resources to resolve these issues.
Here is advice from Cats protection on what to do if you find a cat.
Another really good idea is to fit a paper collar incase the cat already has a home and the owners can then be put in the picture. They most likely have no idea that their cat is visiting other people. The pdf below has some paper collars that can be printed and cut out ready to use.

Stray Cat or Feral? Would you know the difference?
Stray and Feral Cats are very different and have different characteristics and needs. Follow the link to Cats Protection and discover how you can tell them apart.
Please feel free to contact the PAWS team. We are here to give advice and help. We do try and save as many cats as we can but we simply cannot keep up with this current high demand on our services.
