Long Term Foster
We have several rescues at PAWS that have been placed in long term foster homes. Some are needing regular medical care or have special needs which may include daily medication and monitoring. PAWS covers all costs for dogs and cats in long term foster for life.

Skye is a Husky aged 12 years. She has been through it a bit, having to undergo 2 cruciate repairs and now suffering from Arthritis. She was surrendered to PAWS by her owner who had no choice due to ill health, but took an active part in ensuring her girl went to the perfect home. Skye has monthy injections of Librela to ease her pain and is currently having top-up painkillers as the Librela has started to be less effective. She is coping at present and our veterinary trustee sees her regularly to assess her pain management is in an excellent home and we love to see her at our shows and events locally.

Dexter
Dexter came to PAWS in a poor state. He had a lot of hair loss and needed Vet treatment and a lot of TLC. He has had all that and now lives happily with his carer. Dexter is a regular visitor to our coffee mornings. Being an older lad, he needs trips to the vet now and again but all costs are met by PAWS.
Dexter is also on a special diet food which is supplied by the charity.

Frank
Frank is a large and very lively three year old Mastiff cross. He had been living in a semi derelict building for long periods on his own. Frank is a tripod after sadly having his front leg amputated as a puppy after being hit by a car in the road. Because of this, he needs to be monitored so he doesn't overdo it as he can put too much strain on the existing front leg. Frank does not realise this. He is a lively boisterous dog who loves life and can be a handful at times. Frank lives at the farm where PAWS have the use of kennel space when we need urgent space. He did go out on foster and he jumped out of the garden over a high fence! The farm is a place where he seems very happy. He is our poster boy and he attends many of our fundraisers as he is well known and well loved by the community.Frank has Synoquin (a veterinary grade joint support) on a daily basis and also has a special diet food as he has a sensitive tum!

Harry
Lovely old boy who's owner died and he was left in the property. Family friends reached out and asked for help
Charlie

Charlie was very frightened but has come out of her shell - painkiller has helped. She is now playful and affectionate. Her foster carer decided to keep her on long term foster which is great as she is very happy and settled there.
Milton

Milton is an older cat who has joint issues and has had to have most of his teeth removed. His coat was very matted and needs to go on to renal food. He is now also on medication for his creaky joints.
Miltons's foster carer Shirley has requested he stay with her as a long term foster as he's such a good boy and she loves his company. We think that would be perfect for him as he is happy there and he is becoming accustomed to life without his life long friend Dulcie who sadly lost her life to cancer just weeks ago.
Rupert

This lovely old lad is Rupert. When he came into the care of PAWS he needed a dental, neuter, microchipping and flea and worm treatment, and a total re start on his vaccinations. His foster carer decided this old boy should live out his days happy and healthy with lots of love, so he is staying where he is. Rupert will be able to live the life that he deserves under the care of PAWS.
