Here at PAWS, we can't help every cat because of our limited resources, Pressure on our services has never been higher, as is the case with all rescues currently. There are however, other options that can really help a cat stuck outside in the weather.

Click on the Amazon logo to take a look at some outdoor shelters on sale on Amazon. We at PAWS can on occasion help with food, and in the future we would like to use some of our ring- fenced funds to help with a neutering, microchipping and vaccinating programme for those cats in most need. We never like having to refuse help to desperate owners or those raising concern, or keep refusing to help the huge number of cats in need, but we don't have huge resources to resolve these issues.
Here is advice from Cats Protection on what to do if you find a cat. Click on the logo.
Another really good idea is to fit a paper collar incase the cat already has a home and the owners can then be put in the picture. They most likely have no idea that their cat is visiting other people. The pdf below has some paper collars that can be printed and cut out ready to use.

The finder needs to try to find the owner. Knocking on doors is best way. Take the Cat to a vets, if it is possible to catch it. Vets don’t charge but will check for an ID chip. Contacting local lost and found sites to check if the cat already in there and put post on if it isn’t.
Feed the cat and give clean water, just in case it is a stray, while trying to find the owner.
If no owner is found and rescues cannot take it, then please help it where ever possible. Giving the cat food, clean water and somewhere dry it can rest in a quiet, sheltered part of the garden would be great. Always contact us if you are unsure what to do. Like all rescues, we are at full capacity and finding space and resources is challenging but we will always help where we can.
