I have been involved in rescue for many years, mostly in the fundraising capacity for a greyhound charity, but also helping with home checking and assessing dogs for other rescues prior to discovering P.A.W.S. My background is event organisation and office management and I hope this has given the charity a solid foundation on which to build in terms of compliance, structure and record-keeping. My passion has always been animals, as a child I loved everything horsey and that grew into adulthood. I rode regularly and loved hacking out in the countryside. I pestered my parents for my first dog from the RSPCA at 16 which they allowed me despite not really wanting one. Unfortunately, due to living abroad we didn’t have another dog until many years later when our own children pestered us for a dog and we took in Millie from a local rescue. Some years later and after a period of ill-health, I decided it was time to adopt a greyhound to keep Millie company (she was 13 at the time). Solo, a beautiful gentle brindle boy, came into our lives and we never looked back. From then on it was greyhounds all the way. We’ve had 3 more since and a lurcher. More recently Jenny and Henry came on foster and didn’t leave! I’ve had a keen interest in dog welfare for many years and have learnt so much from attending courses with Battersea Academy and also several Victoria Stillwell conferences. My involvement in P.A.W.S. started about 9 years ago and is still going strong. No two days are the same and there is always something new to learn!

My role is currently as a trustee, volunteer and chair of the board of trustees. I have been very involved in overseeing improvements within the charity, implementing policies and procedures and ensuring the charity remains compliant and financially solvent at all times. I also coordinate and organise the fundraising events that P.A.W.S. holds throughout the year. We try and get out and about as much as possible and our favourite thing to do is run a fun dog show for everyone else and their dog to enjoy. We often get to see P.A.W.S. adoptees when we run these events and we love to keep tabs on them. I am an experienced home checker and help other volunteers with dog assessment and intake.
I am very proud of the work we do at P.A.W.S. and whilst rescue is extremely difficult at present, I am very lucky to be able to help carry on the legacy of the charity.
