Helping out at a rescue centre had long been a goal of mine, waiting for life to make room for me to do so eventually paid off.
Becoming a volunteer for P.A.W.S has been, (get ready for the cliché!) totally rewarding, giving the satisfaction we all feel when helping those in need.
Serving on the board of trustees highlights the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes of the charity and the commitment of all those involved.
My love of dogs and all their differences led me to enrol on a Dog Behaviour Diploma Course.
I wanted to develop a better understanding of the reasons behind the multitude of behaviours our dogs engage in. What I learned was that no two dogs behave or react to situation the same way. We as owners, need to be adept in how we train them and help them through difficult situations. It can be challenging and time-consuming, but completely worthwhile.
German Shepherds are my breed of choice, I love their loyalty, character and companionship.
Over the last 4 years I have been competing at Obedience shows with Boo, my German Shepherd. It has become something of a passion of mine, If I’m not at an obedience show or helping out with PAWS, I will be training.
Tink, is a crazy Springer Crossbreed I rescued from PAWS. She was abandoned with one of her siblings in an empty house. After several months of rehabilitation she is a wonderful addition to our family and has a gift for agility.
Ex PAWS Rescue Tink

Oscar was a dear old boy, blind and struggling to get around. He was 14 yrs when we got him and only expected to have him a few weeks. With medication, love and companionship from my other dogs he was soon bounding around like a puppy. Oscar was with us for 11 months and without a doubt he gave us the affirmation that giving them a second chance not only helps the
dogs, it gives us fulfilment.
