PROCESS

THE

PROCESS

IMPORTANT

NOTICE

We always have animals in our care that are in need of their forever home. Whether you are an experienced pet owner or getting your first animal, PAWS will be happy to help you find the right pet for you.

If you are interested in one of our animals, our process is to chat with you and carry out a home check prior to meeting the animal.  We may also agree to an adoption on the basis that any recommended work is completed, on the advice of one of our home checker volunteers before an animal is signed over to you and adopted. (e.g. strengthening garden fencing)

Our adoption fees are as follows:

  • Cat from £80

  • Dog from £160

  • Puppy from £180

As you can appreciate, the process of rescuing a pet and preparing the pet for adoption incurs many costs. We endeavour to release our pets to their new forever home in their best possible condition and health. In order to achieve this for each pet we incurr costs, such as:

  • Trip to the vet for a health check and any medical treatment needed

  • Micro-chipping

  • Vaccinations

  • Flea treatment

  • Worming treatment

  • Neutered/spayed

  • Food, bedding and equipment such as collar & leads

  • Training

  • Travel to rescue the pet

We ask for a donation for 2 main reasons:

  • To ensure you are serious about wanting to adopt a pet

  • To offset some of the cost of preparing your pet for you, so it maybe used towards helping another pet.

  1. Contact us to let us know about a pet you would be interested in adopting and  have a general chat with us, do this by completing our adoption application form: https://www.pennineanimalwelfaresociety.org/adoption-application /

  2. We will visit your home and family to assess your situation, to ensure your chosen pet is suitable.

  3. If we believe we have found the correct match, a 2 week trial for you and the pet begins, if required.

  4. If after the trial everyone is happy, the pet will be signed over into your care.

  5. Once placed PAWS will check in with you on the Pet to ensure all is going well & provide support as needed.

If during the trial you don’t feel you are a good match, just contact us and we will happily come and reclaim the pet. We want all parties involved to be happy with the adoption.

If after the pet has been signed over to you, you decide you want to re-home it – you must contact us.

No pet adopted from us can be passed on to anyone else, without prior consultation with PAWS.
