Max is a very likeable, friendly dog with people. He likes to sit with you on the sofa and is affectionate. Max has been in his current home for approximately 5 years. Previously used as a stud dog he did not get a lot of human interaction, consequently he can be demanding for attention. When he doesn’t get the attention he wants from a person he barks . This is usually because the ‘human’ in question has instigated interaction, such as stroking. When the stroking stops he barks for more. Setting firm boundaries and rules with consistency will eliminate this behaviour, as was evident at his assessment. Max can be left alone but prefers open spaces rather than a crate. He does not chew, however he does nest with loose cushions and can damage them. Occasionally Max can urinate due to being stressed. Max is generally a good boy when out on walks. He does not like some dogs and may bark or plant his feet and refuse to move until they have gone. He does not go towards other dogs but will react if they get too close. On walks he takes no interest in children but does not like them being in the home.

Max would be best placed in a pet and child free home, with a person who has some experience of the breed.
