Frank

FRANK

Frank is a large breed, likely an English Mastiff cross.  He is smaller in stature than that though, but still a good 35kgs.  He suffered an injury when he was a year old and as a result, had a front leg amputation.  He manages very well but in order to ensure he has the best and longest life possible, it is going to need careful management.  Our vet has advised that he should not be going down steps/stairs, jumping down from vehicles or furniture, no walks (other than very short ones on soft surfaces), a good sized garden with grass (or other suitable soft surface), no slippery flooring, pressure mats where possible to help alleviate impact on his good front leg, continued medication with Synoquin to help support his skeletal health and access to hydrotherapy sessions, where possible.

The charity is looking to find a special forever home for Frank where he can be nurtured and supported through his life expectancy.  Given he is a large breed and a front amputation is more stressful for this size of dog, our vet has advised that his life expectancy will be shortened but with good care he should have another good 3-4 years.  He will need to be kept lean as weight increase will put further stress on his good front limb.  We know there is someone out there who will see what a beautiful soul Frank is – he does love people and loves a good kip on the settee!  He is great with other dogs as long as they don’t get in his face.  He really is a big cuddle monster and would make someone the most marvellous companion.   The charity would also be willing to find a long-term foster placement for Frank – in this case we would cover all his veterinary costs and work in close conjunction with the foster carer with regards to his ongoing care.  (Frank is great with children but we feel he would benefit from a home with teenagers or adult only so the energy level is kept manageable and he remains calm.  Similarly, he could live with another dog but energy levels would need to remain calm so an older dog would be considered).  Adoption is subject to a home check and an adoption donation of £250.

Whoever is lucky enough to have Frank in their life, will benefit from his massive heart full of love and gain the most marvellous companion.  Frank is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and flea/tick/worm treated.
